USUAL SAFARI PROGRAMME
Easy drive from Townsville to mountains, rivers and plains.
A Land Rover Defender tray body meets hunters at Townsville Airport, and transports the clients to the hunting areas, 2 to 5 hours drive, seating for 1 client only. Alternatively we can meet clients travelling in their own/ rental vehicles at the closest town to the hunting properties and guide them to the safari camp where their car can be parked.
Using the Land Rover as a hunting vehicle, we scout game trails, swamps and feeding areas, hunting on foot during daylight hours with the assistance of pointer dogs, pig finding team of 4 Rose, Bob, Joe and Tom. English pointers to find and bail bedded pigs, waiting over stock dams, November and December evening spotlighting from the Land Rover available. HELICOPTER HUNTING
Fast and exciting, beltup you’re in for a wild ride, shooting the biggest boars as they flush out of the swamps, then off running flat out between the trees. Everything's moving it takes a bit of getting used to, keeping on target as you swoop around, laying a field of fire, need plenty of ammunition.
This form of shooting can be done during the wet season, because we are up out of the mud, it can also be done by hunters who have lost full use of their legs and it won’t take much time, we are up and away and into the pigs real fast, so can be done on a one day hunt, that suits tourists on the move.
Small manoeuvrable helicopter, no doors, 2 seats, pilot and shooter, a new experience cruising over tree tops at 30km per hour like a butterfly looking down in amongst the trees at pigs, deer and dingos, it reminded me of times I spent snorkelling around reefs hunting fish with a spear gun.
Costs $600 per hour, flying time.
